    • Thanks, MD. I have to be honest. Whether I’m invited to a friend’s home or we meet at a restaurant – as we’ve done for several years now — I alway roast my own turkey before Thanksgiving. I just cannot start the holidays without turkey stock, turkey risotto, and, above all else, turkey sammiches. I do love a turkey sammich. 😀

    • Thanks, Cecille, and the same wishes for you and yours.
Yes, that’s a great sandwich and you’re responsible for part of it. That’s your bread in the photo. In fact, I’ve baked 2 loaves this week. Yes, there have been a lot of turkey sandwiches around here. 🙂

    • Thanks, Ruth. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, too. For me, sure, the big dinner is fantastic but, all the while, all I can think about are the turkey sandwiches that are sure to follow. They’re my favorite sandwiches, bar none. 🙂

    • I’m sure, John, that your sandwiches will be every bit as good, — probably better — as mine. Mrs. Kitchen Riffs wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂
Wishing you both a fantastic holiday.

    • Thank you so much, Maureen. Will you be cooking anything special Down Under?; I think I’d find Thanksgiving the hardest holiday to “forget”. It’s those darn sandwiches. How could I survive without them? 😉

  1. A very, very Happy Thanksgiving to you and Zia! I wish we celebrated it here, because even when things are not so good, there is always something to be thankful for and we should take the time to remember that. I will make something lovely today for me and Big Man and we will give thanks and also raise a glass to you both x PS. Can I have one of those sandwiches to go please?!

    • Thank you, Tanya. For several years now, friends and I have met at the same restaurant and celebrated the holiday together. Today, midway through our meal, I proposed a toast “To Tanya and her Big Man!” Everyone looked at me kind of funny … but they all clinked their glasses, just the same. Laughing, I explained my toast and they responded with another toast to you both. 🙂
      Cin cin!

    • Thanks, Mandy. tI really is the best holiday. Well, any day centered around food is going to be a big hit with me. And nothin beats a sandwich made from as many of the leftovers as possible. This year, I delayed roasting my turkey until the bread was baked. I didn’t want there to be any delay when it came to making my sandwich. 🙂 As for Max, he passed out hours ago. He can’t handle his turkey.

    • Thanks, Sally. “Warm tropical” sounds so very nice. Very, very nice!
A very cold “Acção de graças feliz para você, meu amiga!”
(I hope that says what I think it says. Can’t trust those universal translators. 😀 )
Hope you’re enjoying your visit with your family.

      • only tiny mistake was “meu amiga” – amiga is feminine, so the article preceding it must go in the feminine form, which would be “Minha amiga” 😉 But obviously, it did not prevent me from understanding and loving it!

we just arrived home. Exhausted, but happy…. good to have a couple of days to recover before facing a new week…

  2. Have a great Thanksgiving. Apologies for not having visited for so long but I’m having problems with Reader…some bloggers that I’ve followed post some 30 or 40 posts a day making it impossible to find the people that I like to communicate with..I’m slowly sorting it out:)

    • Thanks, Roger. Good to see you again and don’t worry about the effects of your Reader problems. I’m pretty much in the same boat, being far behind with an inbox full of notifications. It takes me weeks to realize that I’m not receiving notifications of a favored blogger’s posts, like yours. Like you, I hope to get current again and figure this all out. Good luck to the both of us! 🙂
